Swim Conwy Performance Pathway April 2014 Parents evening – Tuesday 4th February
Welcome • Introductions • A Brief History • The new structure • Fees • Questions and Discussion
Introductions • A Brief (recent) History • Late 2012 NPD suggests radical change to the existing structure. • This is not acceptable to the clubs, so they are tasked with creating a structure LTAD compliant. • A workable solution is now on the table. • Why?
“If we do what we’ve always done.... • ....... we’ll get what we’ve always got” • Swim Wales Performance Plan • 13 centres across Wales • Performance Swimming Inspires others and ensures funding to help grass roots development.
The changes from April: • Clubs retain identity, independence & existing training time. • Opportunities for Social / Fitness / Club swimmers continue • Performance Pathway altered
Conwy Performance Junior Performance Conwy Junior Development 3 & 4 Incorporating Sat & Sun skills Swimmers complete these sessions in Llandudno Swimming Club time, but remain members of home club Conwy Junior Development 1 & 2 (Skills 4 & 5) Conwy Club Groups 1 – 3 Abergele Conwy Club Groups 1 – 3 Colwyn Bay Conwy Club Groups 1 – 3 Llandudno Delivering Skills 1-3 Swim Conwy Club 3 - 3 x 2hr training sessions per week Swim Conwy Club 2 - 3 x 1.5 hr training sessions per week (dependent on age) Swim Conwy Club 1 - 2 x 1.5 hr training sessions per week (dependent on age)
Consideration needs to be given to the most appropriate coaching for pathway swimmers. Development Day programme could provide the opportunity to get all levels of swimmers mixing, along with joint targeted meets Programme would also give other club personnel e.g. Coaches, Welfare Officers, more opportunities to work together and share best practice.
Thank you Questions and Discussion
