Outages • E-mail server opal.tc.umn.edu • 15 minute outages during weekly peaks (Tuesday 2pm, last two weeks) • peridot is down for SAN reconfig; users moved to other servers • Users were not optimally balanced; opal had too many of them • Moved users off to other servers to fix problem
Listserv Upgrade • Listserv (lists.umn.edu) upgraded on 10/4 • Hardware upgraded: • Sun Netra X1 to SunFire T1000 • CPU: 500MHz to 1GHz (8 core, 4 threads/core) • Memory: 2GB to 8GB (2GB to 4GB swap) • Archives now local instead of NFS-mounted • Software upgraded: • OS: Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 • Web Server: Apache 1 to Apache 2
Shared E-mail Folders • In limited use and considered stable • Tested in: • Thunderbird • Outlook (Express/OCFO not fully tested yet) • OS X Mail • GopherMail (in final testing) • GopherMail updated to support IMAP NAMESPACE command • Management interface: https://umn.edu/myaccount/share
Server-side Filtering • List of rules applied to incoming email • If (criteria) then (file in folder or forward) • Criteria based on header matches, size • Interface to be linked from myaccount page • Will NOT be available for interactive accounts (requires dovecot) • Coming next month…
