Who We Are:The University of Washington Institute for Hazards Mitigation Planning and Research is an interdisciplinary academic Institute housed in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning. The Institute (was/is): • Created in the Fall of 1999. • An outcome of the participation of Dr. Richard McCormick, President of the University of Washington, at the 1997 Seattle Project Impact signing ceremony. • Dedicated to building long term relationships in Washington State and the Northwest through: • Products – Plans and Research • Providing University recourses in support of community risk reduction efforts. provide University recourses concerning Hazards issues. • Training and Educating future practitioners :
