Aristotle – Ancient Greece Euergetism is considered to be corporate social responsibility’s ancestor. The metaphor that companies have a responsibility to help society, derive from the ancient notions of euergetism, which support that an individual oughts to help another. Euergetism is therefore the form of responsibility that should be undertaken for the welfare of the society.
Aristotle can be considered a hero of euergetism and therefore of corporate social responsibility at an era that this was not even yet recognised as such. • Aristotle has many writings, among which the Nicomachean Ethics and Politics. • He has helped the community, through providing benefits out of his own wealth, supporting the notion of collectivism.
