The Decree for Freedom Grant Green & Ryan Bohler
March 1, 2012 • Upon this eighteenth day of June, we are in the presence of the wounded and the guardians of the Lord our God. These uncommon upbringings of the issues of our social contracts to us are present on the front line of the army of injustice. We the people are qualified to suggest a certified letter to our President of our 50 United States. We are here to address the evil art of women unequal involvement in the world of the work force.
Women have made tremendous accomplishments in moving toward equality to men. They have stood up for themselves and empowered themselves in remarkable ways. America recognizes these achievements and greatly commends them. But there is still a huge gender gap in the United States. Unfortunately society possesses an overwhelming unwillingness to accept the fact that females aren’t in fact equal.
Inequality • Gender inequality is defined as the disparity in status, power and prestige between people who identify as women and men. There is no doubt that women have obtained many more opportunities than they previously had, and society attempts to accept them as equals.
In 1963, the Equal Pay Act was signed to prevent income disparities that were created do to discrimination. At the time the bill was passed, women only earned 58.9% of their male counterparts. This law was enacted 50 years ago yet women still only earn 80 cents for every dollar men make today.
