Issue • Focus on Standard Mail with: • Requested IHD (In-Home Date); and • Arrives at DDU past IHD or Sale Date • Need for “Standardized” verbiage, format, placement • Relative to mailer requested IHD • Instructions for disposition if received past IHD or Sale Date
Desired Results • Mailers will specify IHD on mailpiece • In consistent location • Using standard verbiage (clear and concise) • Along with disposition instructions
Desired Results • USPS will prepare communications plan to • Disseminate instructions • Distribute training materials to mailers and USPS • Facilitate proper mail preparation • Ensure adherence to operating procedures

REQUESTED IN HOME 8/12-14 LAST DATE OF VALUE 8/20 CONTACT BSN AFTER 8/20 Revised Mailer Endorsement Block Results To Date – Verbiage and Replacement Example 2 Required changes are: Postmaster must be notified of request and permission to withdraw and dispose of mail. “Don’t deliver before” message is problematic. If mailing arrives more than two days before in-home, post office cannot hold. Mailers may not like “Last day of Value”, it’s negotiable.

Mailer’s Request for Withdrawal or Disposal • Proposed Option 3 (Modified Option 2) • Authorizes Withdrawal and Disposal • Provides instructions and last date of value • Places printed authorization in standard location on mail piece • Must be bold and clear type font
