Begin at the beginning… • June 2006 - 1/2 day inservice with special guest, Ed Barry • 3 yr plan: Introduce (06-07) -> Practice (07-08) -> Assess (08-ongoing) • August 2006 • Teacher training: Skill vs. Integration & Lesson planning • Ask “where are we going? Or where do we want to go” type of questions (Tech Team + Ed)

  4. Teacher Expectations“The Principal Card” • All teachers are responsible for technology integration • 3-year process • Role of leadership: “Principal says…” • Evaluations, Self-reflections • …to incorporate at least 1 GE per quarter

  5. Role of the Library-Media Specialist • Moving away from lab-based computer classes • Integration with classroom teacher leading, computer “teacher” supporting

  6. Obstacles • Learning curve (sacrifice of time) • Logging in, printing • Keyboarding skill level • Mobile lab vs. computer lab • Availability of carts and lab • 3 year vision (introduced, practiced, assessed) - not “just” 1 teacher’s responsibility!

  7. Supports • Computers, Online resources, Software (Kidspiration, Appleworks) • Tech Coordinator - • Library/Media Specialist • SU-wide Tech Teacher Leaders program • Scheduled tech-skills classes • Tech support staff (part time) New for 08-09!!! Integration Specialist

  8. Action Plan “…Tools of technology will be used to support instruction in the classroom. • a. Discussion group within the workspace area of the FirstClass email system will be checked monthly. • B. At least two staff meeting per year will be dedicated to technology integration and technology GEs.”

Assessment • Teacher observation • 5-8th grade standards on report card • Needs to be updated to reflect GEs & inclusive of k-12 • 2 times annual reporting of Tech GEs (1-4 scale, rubric development) • August 2008 - Development of Assessments/Performance Tasks (1 each Quarter) • Electronic Portfolio based on identified GE areas: (GE--Portfolio Item--Date--Assessment) Enter stage right: ePearl!!!
