How Can I Be Involved in Evangelism? Sharing the “Good News”
Introduction After calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. (Acts 5:40b-42)
We are Commanded to Teach • Go into all the world teaching the gospel. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15). • Preaching/teaching is essential to save others! (Romans 10:14-15). • There is a great need for teaching. (Matthew 9:36-38).
What Keeps Us From Teaching Others? • Fear of Being Different, Ridicule, Looking Odd? • Fear of Conflict? • Lack of Faith? • Fear of Failure? • Fear of being a hypocrite? • Lack of Confidence? • Lack of Knowledge?

(2 Thess. 3:1, Col. 4:3-4). • Pray for the lost and seek opportunities (Colossians 4:5-6). • Don’t limit prospects to just certain people.
Things You Can Do Now • Turn adversity into opportunity. (Acts 8:1-4; Philippians 1:12-20). • Show hospitality to Evangelists. (3 John 1:5-8). • Use social networking internet sites for spiritual purposes. • Remember that you will influence others for good or bad by what you post, like, etc.
A Bible Example of EvangelismPaul in Athens. Acts 17 • Focused on God and His Nature. • Emphasized Man’s Need for God. • Based on Scripture. • Confronted error, but respectful. • Pointed toward judgment. • Looked to the resurrection. • Largely unsuccessful in gaining converts.
