Graphic Aids • Are designed to help you understand and interpret information • They are graphical or “picture” based
Captions • Captions are the words that are next to a visual (picture,photo, graph etc.) that explains the image
Sketches • A quick, rough drawing of something.
Graphs • A diagram that shows the relationship between numbers or amounts.
Maps • A detailed plan of an area. • Maps often show features such as towns, roads, rivers, mountains, etc.

Photos • Pictures taken by a camera, used to illustrate text.
Timelines • A chart showing a range of dates on which events happened.
Cross- sections • Diagrams that shows the inside of something, as if it had been cut through.
