Groupon celebrates 5th birthday with redesign • Groupon is marking its fifth anniversary with a redesign of its website and mobile apps its says it will better reflect how it has shifted from being a daily deals email service to “a true online marketplace". • The redesigned Groupon now features a personalised homepage, which the best deals based on users’ previous purchases, interests and purchases by other customers with similar interests. • On mobile, a new feature has been introduced called “local explorer” which automatically detects when a user’s location has changed and serves deals based on the current city they are in • Groupon CEO Eric Lefkofsky says: “Our new site and mobile app makes it easier and more rewarding for customers to check Groupon first when they want to buy just about anything, anytime, anywhere.” Source: www.marketingweek.co.uk
Maxol launches "Wash for Wishes" carwash week where €2 from every Maxol carwash will go to Make a Wish Ireland. The Maxol Group is delighted to announce the launch of ‘Wash for Wishes’ carwash fundraising campaign as part of the company’s charity partnership with the Make-A-Wish Ireland. ‘Wash for Wishes’ Carwash Week will run from Monday 4th to Sunday 10th November. During this week, motorists can avail of Maxol carwash facilities at participating service stations in the knowledge that €2 from every carwash will be donated directly to Make-A-Wish Ireland. Google Launches Kitkat Phone • Google has unveiled a new flagship smartphone, as well as the new iteration of its Android operating system: Kitkat. • The chocolaty update is currently only available on the new LG-built Nexus 5, but other high-end Android phones should be expecting updates in the coming weeks.Launched today, the Nexus 5 boasts an impressive spec sheet, and will compete with Apple’s iPhone 5 and the Samsung S4 at the top end of the phone market. • Two versions of the phone are available, one offering 16GB of internal storage and the other with 32GB, and prices start at £299, contract-free. • Android fans may be forced to switch networks if they are keen to experience the new Nexus though, as early reports suggest Vodafone and EE will not be stocking the handset Source: b2bmarketing.net
