RECENT HISTORY - 1 1993: Present Salisbury College formed from merger of College of Art and College of Technology 2001: College leases Tidworth College from RBL 2003: College converts St Marys House into residential accommodation for HE students 2004: College gives notice to terminate lease at Tidworth 2006: College due to exit Tidworth campus

  2. RECENT HISTORY - 2 • Falling numbers • Financial problems • Poor Ofsted report in 2004 In 2004 the Governors decided to re-structure the College and a new management team was appointed

  4. STRATEGIC PRIORITIES 2005 - 2008 • A coherent provision for 14 – 19 year olds • Responding to local business and public service needs • A Higher Education portfolio that responds to regional needs • Widening local participation in learning through part time provision

CURRENT STUDENT NUMBERS • 1,100 full time Further Education students – mainly Southampton Road • 450 full and part time Higher Education students – all Southampton Road • 5,500 part time students – Southampton Road, Tidworth & outreach centres, including city centre • 1,500 Adult & Community Learners – Southampton Road, Tidworth & outreach centres • Over 100 off-site work based learners • 500 students on professional courses – Southampton Road and Tidworth • Conferencing facility at Tidworth

FUTURE STUDENT NUMBERS • 14-19 year olds a Government priority for FE Colleges • Need to increase Higher Education numbers to respond to regional demand for university level education • Requirement for increasing contributions from adults and employers may affect part time numbers in the future • Some growth in professional courses • No conferencing after summer 2006

ACCOMMODATION CURRENT PROBLEMS: • Main campus cut off from the City • Poor standard of accommodation • Institutional feel, internal space dominated by long corridors • Lack of functional suitability for some areas of the curriculum • Illogical geographical location of some curriculum areas • Serious environmental problems: noise, temperature • External campus dominated by vehicular access • Lack of leisure / social facilities • Over capacity, even allowing for growth
