Welcome / Council Meeting Rules • Prior to meeting, communicate your plans to attend to NOS Chair. • Arrive/start and end meetings on time (Not NASA time!) • Be prepared • Stick to agenda • Respectfully listen to all others and respond thoughtfully • No interruptions, side conversations, killer phrases, etc. • Use appropriate humor selectively • No social loafing or silent attendees • Work for consensus in making major decisions • Once a decision is made, we speak with “one voice” (especially after leaving meeting) • Honesty before cohesiveness • Silence/absence equals agreement • All agreements are kept unless pre-negotiated • Accept responsibility for • Your roles and duties • Following meeting rules

Results of Council Meeting Poll • Based on 5 responses from 15 • Preferred times • Mon 11:30a-1:00p • Tue 11:30a-1:00p • Wed 3:00p-4:30p • Suggest 3rd Tuesday of each month 11:30a-1:00p • Open Discussion • When? • How Long? • Consensus by those present is to hold Council meeting regularly from 11:30am to 1:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month

Section Planning / Challenge • All formal Council Members are empowered & expected to form their own committees • Each council member should recruit a team of at least 2-3 NOS members to help carry out their duties. • If you don’t think you need help, make bigger plans so that you do! • Each council member to identify/mentor/train their replacement • Every event will have a membership component • Coordinate events with other council members • Be pro-active in contacting each other • Don’t wait for council meetings to coordinate • Plan to Succeed • Fail to plan and you plan to fail! • “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.” – ZigZiglar Image credit – http://www.averageyouthministry.com/2012/01/02/if-you-aim-for-nothing/
