Exploration activities • Materials & opportunities combine for self-direction. • Teachers do: • Offer materials: • “See what you can do with these.” • “Check this out.” • Make comments describing with complex vocabulary (no questions). • “That’s called a quad.” • “The stapler’s magazine needs refilling.” • Teachers do (cont.): • Note new ideas: • “Clever!” • “That’s new…” • Be responsive: add materials or time as needed. • Document and display.
