  4. Make No Bones About It Meaning: to say clearly what you think or feel about something, however unpleasant or awkward it. Sentence: He has made no bones about the fact that he is not interested in applying for the supervisor`s job.

  5. Monkey's uncle Meaning: used to express complete surprise, amazement or disbelief Sentence: I may agree that if two plus two equals five, then I am a monkey's uncle.

  6. Gild the lily Meaning: to apply unnecessary ornament to something that is pleasing at it’s original state. Sentence: Your house has lovely brickwork. Don't paint it. That would be gilding the lily.

  7. Three dog night Meaning: old term that refers to a cold night Sentence: The cold weather outside was freezing, that Jake had a three dog night.

  8. A lick and a promise Meaning: to do a job or piece of work quickly and not carefully Sentence: We didn't have time to do much clearing up in the yard, so we just gave the grass a lick and a promise.
