Day 2 Pike’s Peak

1. June 26, When I awoke in the Holiday Inn hotel, I expected to be in my OWN bed at my OWN house, but when I found myself in a cozy hotel room in a bed with a floral print quilt it really startled me. Once Katie and Sarah showed any sign of being alive after their beauty sleep finally ended, I asked them where we would venture to today and they simply answered, ‘ well, you’ll find out once we reach it.’ After everyone (Cami, Sarah, Katie, and me) completed dressing, Sarah informed us to bring a sweat shirt with us. I threw my bright yellow sweat shirt into the Sarah’s car. Later we all hoped into the Ford and Sarah switched the key and turned on the car and began to Drove off. For a numerous amount of the trip I watched the mountains cascade above me and I talked with Cami. 20 minuets of driving passed until Katie pointed at a particularly large mountain and remarked, ‘That will be our destination for the day.’ First I thought that we were traveling to Mt. Evan’s, but later I figured out that the Mountain we were actually visiting Pikes Peak. Katie acted dead afraid when ever the car even slightly curved as if the car would start tumbling down the mountain any moment. 20 minuets into the drive Sarah parked the car at the side of the road and told us that we were hiking the rest of the way. Another 20 minutes into the trip and I fainted. I woke up at the top of Pikes Peak. All around the top of the mountain were large sheep with ENORMOUS horns. At the top of the mountain we took a hike and I even glimpsed at a pika! We started the trip down Which felt SO much shorter and easier to hike! Once we reached the car I felt SO relieved and hopped into the car as fast as my legs could carry me. We drove and drove for the rest of the day not even stopping at a hotel!
