  31. CA Education Code 52522 • 1993, CA Legislature passed EC 52522 • Authorizes the SPI to approve adult school plans to approve up to 5 percent of their block entitlement on innovative and alternative instructional delivery • The program effectively started in 1995

  32. The Program Expands…. • In June 2001, LAUSD requests a waiver of the 5% cap. SBE grants a waiver for LA for up to 7% • July 1, 2008, OTAN assumes Leadership Project responsibility for distance learning • On September 30, 2008 Governor Schwarzenegger signs AB 1163 authorizing up to 15%
