  3. How to overcome this language barrier?

  4. Speak slowly and carefully: don’t rush through your communication. Pronounce each word carefully. • Ask for clarification: don’t hesitate to clarify anything that you don’t understand. • Frequently check for understanding: productive communication happens only when your make sure that what you have conveyed has been understood well. • Avoid idioms: when you are talking to someone else who is not familiar in your language avoid idioms. It will lessen the confusion part. • Be specific: be very clear about what you are trying to communicate. Stick to the topic and avoid unnecessary conversations.

  5. Provide information via multiple communication channels: whatever you have conversed follow it up with phone calls or emails in order to make the subject matter clear. • Be patient: cross – cultural communication takes time. So be patient. Just because the opposite person does not grasp what you are saying at the first go, don’t let your temper take control of the situation. Explain it once again.
