Developments in work - based learning (WBL) Work-based learning (WBL) as part of national education and training priorities 2014-2020 In the Education Development Guidelines (EDG) one of the directions of work – support to WBL and traineeships (practice) in VET (18,66 million EUR) In the planning of the ES Funds – WBL provision and respective VET content reform, flexible modes of delivery, implementation of the qualifications’ framework and quality assurance framework – in co-operation with social partners (36,37million EUR) 2014/2015 - provisionally around 30 VET institutions are prepared to get involved in WBL in co-operation with around 200 entrepreneurs to implement around 40 different programs and by involving around 500 learners (according to survey among VET institutions) Currently – implementation of the WBL – to be continued in 2015/2016 with parallel discussions with social partners aiming at more systemic approaches. Amendments to the VET Law will provide legal basis for introducing WBL at systemic level – taking into consideration lessons learnt form the implementation of the pilot project. Further promotion of WBL approaches Importance is on the motivation system for employers – a national level task,promoting diverse perception ofinitiatives for employer’s involvement Ongoing discussions with employers organizations, Sectoral Expert Councils (SECs) and other stakeholders VET content reforms, flexible modes of delivery Improved training of trainers for traineeships and WBL schemes International conference: VET – Enterprise Cooperation for High Quality on WBL, October 7, 2015, Riga
