Background to LEADER • Follows 7 principles of development • ‘Bottom up’ • Successful local action group delivering rural programme via LEADER approach • Creating jobs, new businesses, improving access to services, drawing in additional investment • Next programme 4% RDPE, competitive £140m across England

  3. CLLD is different, so not quite ‘more of the same’

  4. Opportunity • LEP ambition to deliver 5% of ALL funds (c£35m) through CLLD • 100% geography across all of Cornwall – 4 groups • Focus on jobs and growth

  5. What do we need to do • Write local Development Strategy/ies which will identify priorities for investment based on need • Engage with communities, businesses and social enterprises to understand needs and aspirations

  6. Timescales • February – April consultation events • April – June preparation of the Local Development Strategy • June draft Local Development Strategy produced for review • July – August preparation of bid and final Local Development Strategy ready to submit to Government • October – November outcome of bid known • January 2015 new programme starts

  7. How you can help (please!) • Send us any up-to-date plans, surveys, reports you have (desk research) • Invite us to community network meetings so we can engage with as many people/groups as possible • Tell us about other key forums, groups etc that operate in your area/s – if you can facilitate contact – great! • Take the leaflet, and spread the word!
