  3. Literary Period Continued… • Revolt to Neoclassicism • Said no other period compared to it • Art became unrealistic; people got the chance to express themselves

  4. Lit. Period Continued… • Used emotion to explain things instead of reason • Emphasized Individualism • Artists showed appreciation for Nature

  5. Social Elements/Implications • Changed way people got along with each other • Now stressed emotion over reason • Everyone had their own identity now

  6. Social Elements/Implications Continued… • People tried to earn a name for themselves, but their new ideas just created newer movements • People felt Romanticism reflected humanity • Felt that freedom meant responsibility

  7. Social Elements/Implications Continued… • Freedom also meant creativity • The Romantics thought overall that the best life is one lead by self-made decisions

  8. Religious Elements and Implications • Religion was not stressed as much during this period • Imagination was leading factor in the romanticism period

  14. Artistic Elements/Implications • Developed from folklore in Germany and also in England • Common belief that imagination would overcome reason • Art became less religiously incorporated

  15. Artistic Elements/Implications Continued… • Became very unrealistic and irrational • People could express themselves in the way they wanted to • Artists explored their minds and created new works

  16. Artistic Continued… • Nature is also heavily weighed in Romantic art • It became a time where people put their thoughts on to paper and expressed them
