  3. Demographic Numbers • Germany 2018: 83 millioninhabitants • Foreignnationality: 10.6 million • Refugees: 1.7 million • Refugees with legal refugeestatus: 1.2 million • Population increase in 2017: 0.5 million

  7. Unaccompaniedminors • Unaccompaniedminors in care oftheyouthwelfareservices: 2016: 65 000 persons, 2017: 33 000 persons • New arrivals: 2016: 13 000 persons, 2017: 4 200 persons • 91% malesmostlyfrom Afghanistan or Eritrea

Refugees and thelabormarket 2017 • 470 000 refugees receivebasicsecuritybenefitsforjobseekers(mostlyparticipants in languageclasses) • 185 000 refugees are unemployed and activelylookingforwork • 91000 refugees startedemployment • 275 000 personsfromthemainhome countries in employment (27% ofthe adult population)

  10. Young refugees in education • Most refugees under 16 in regularclasses • Most young refugees need additional helpwithlanguagebasedschoolwork • Refugees between 16 and 20 in VABO-classeshavedecreased(morethan 60% decreasein 2017) • Young refugees havemostlyreachedlanguagelevel A2 or B1
