Notes on Lab Schedule • Thursday: Section 01 lab • More top design in SolidWorks • Class led by Jason Dixon • 3D Printers are working! • Pick up top designs you’ve submitted • Submit first prototype ASAP • Work on redesign this lab period and next • Evaluation and presentations on Nov 6th & 10th

Long Term Schedule • Calendar on Syllabus is a mess • Blame it on guest speakers(and professorial shortcomings) • May print new hard copy and distribute • Still a work in progress so pay attention to amendments in class • Ethics and Resume-writing are very important • They will be prioritized • There will be an assignment • Basic Excel competencies next

  5. To Be Clear • “Problem Solving” and “Unit Conversion” • De-prioritized • Possibly dropped entirely • I’ll be very clear about what is due next • Will give at least a week’s notice • If I’m being unclear or ambiguous - ask for clarification

  6. Self Assessment Assignment • Full instructions on course website (here) • Read them carefully • Turn in 2-3 pp paper by next Thursday (October 30th, 5pm Pacific Standard Time)

  7. Notes on Email Etiquette • “Reply” vs new email • Subject line (class, assignment, project, etc.) • Your name (possibly group members too) • Filenames • Last name • Date • Version number

  8. Today - Data for Excel • Work in groups (3-4) • Work in class (today and Monday) • Finding two data sets to work with • Do NOT have to be Engineering related • Must know source • First • Must have > 10 data points • Must be able to plot as dependent & independent variables • Will use in X,Y scatterplot • Second • Must have > 20 data points • Must be able to put in to at least two categories(Will plot averages and standard deviations) • Will use for bar graph with error bars
