Pixel Display Tech POE-CLIENT Board. POE-Client Overview.
E N D
POE-Client Overview The POE-CLIENT product is a Zero client powered by power over Ethernet. Unlike other zero clients this board directly drives all internal circuits of the client system. Another advantage of this board is that is accommodates 3d acceleration making use of the host PC GPU thus using normal video function calls. The POE client offers savings in component and installation costs as well as reducing potential points of failure.
POE-CLIENT gives you VALUE • V = Video over Ethernet (LVDS, HDMI, VGA) • A = Audio over Ethernet • L = LED Driver • U = USB over Ethernet (Downstream USB) • E = Environmental Control – Brightness Control, Ambient Temperature and Light monitoring.
Typical Zero or Thin Client System Component Count ~ 8, Cable Count ~ 11
POE-CLIENT System Component Count ~ 4, Cable Count ~ 5
Video • A virtual video card is set up in the OS and transmits out to the POE-CLIENT board and it directly drives an LCD without and other support circuitry. • It does acceleration through calls to the built in video driver on the host (if existing) • Optionally - video can be output as LVDS, DVI, HDMI or VGA • Up to 1920 x 1080 resolution with 16.7M Colors • 24 Bit dual channel support over LVDS
Audio • Audio is handled through a standard Audio Codec • C-media Audio Codec • 15 Watts per channel speaker or line level output.
LED Backlight Driver • Video is converted to LDVS via a DVO to LVDS Circuit • The advantage here is that as in a typical system Video is converted to DVI or VGA and needs to go through an LCD controller to be converter to LVDS • This is all handled on our one Board.
USB • Our board has a downstream USB port • Plugging into this port is that same as plugging into the USB port on the back of your PC. • It can be used for • Keyboard / Mouse • Touch Screen • Bar Code Scanner • Flash Driver • Etc.
Environmental Control • This board has an ambient light sensor to detect how bright it is outside so we can adjust our brightness accordingly (outdoor applications) • We also monitor our unit temperature to insure that we are not doing damage to our valuable components • We directly control the backlight brightness and also monitor the backlight power to insure backlights are on. • If the unit gets to hot we automatically turn down the brightness to reduce heat.
Product Benefits • Multiple Users can run off a single PC • Reduced Power ( <10 Watts vs. 100 to 300 Watts) • Reduced Installation cost • Reduced Component and Cable Count • Secure operation (No Local Storage of Data) • Extended Display (up to 100 meters) • Centralized Power – only one UPS needed for all monitors on the network. • Device location not limited to proximity to power
Target Markets • QSR – Quick Service Restaurant • Industrial • Kiosk • Digital Signage • POS / POI • IT • Medical • Retail
POE – Power Over Ethernet • Power over ethernet enables our board to receive power across the existing CAT5 cable and power up to 60 watts of needed power. • With normal electric the least amount of power you can run is 1650 watts even if you only need 60 or less.
Installation – Reduced Cost This is a conservative estimate for the electrician, in union situations i.e. Hotel, Airport the electrician cost maybe up to $2000 for such an Installation. POE does not require an electrician licensed or otherwise or any permits.
