  1. ARCH. 244 - The Secret life of buildings Wurster Hall 7th floor analysis Framing questions , collecting data and analyzing the results. IRENA STOJKOV

  2. Framing the question • I want to analyze the control patterns of a representative studio floor in the Wurster Hall’s tower • Vs Occupancy • Vs Daylight My research is happening before the ADURA system was installed.

  3. Method • For a week I observed what was going on during different hours. Occupancy, lights, weather conditions, temperature. • I observed where there was artificial lighting and where plugged in devices were working.

  4. Common lights

  5. People and laptops

  6. Desk lights

  7. Day analysis

  8. Plugged in devices consumption

  9. Studio consumption • 7th floor: 43 kWh (2.4 kW) • Hp: all floors the same • 4 studio floors: 4 x 43 = 172 kWh This is the hypothetical influence of the studio tower consumption on the global building consumption when all the studio classes are working.

  10. Graph • 2.4 kW x 4 = 9.6 kw

  11. conclusions • It is very important to organize the chart to fill in BEFORE taking notes and data from reality, otherwise it happens that the information collected are disorganized and you miss some parts  Fill in a Standard Chart • The influence of the studio floors on the building baseline is almost irrelevant.
