Purpose • 56% self identify as Hispanic • 58% are first generation college students • 75% receive need-based grants and loans • Many of our students lack access to high speed internet and depend on such campus resources

Key Questions • Awarded October 1, 2008, the goal of this grant is to increase the number of Hispanic and other low income students attaining degrees in fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Objective 1 : Increase the overall graduation rates for STEM degrees Objective 2: Increase overall success rates in STEM gateway courses Objective 3: Implement a model transfer program from UNM Valencia to UNM Main Campus

Data Collection Methods • Transfer Advisor • Mentor and assist transitioning students • Maintain an office at UNM VC and UNM Main • Individualized appointments at Main campus • Bridge between campuses • Appointments • Individual or small group • Specifically tailored to each student • Provides exposure to Main Campus as the transition occurs (many students have never even visited Main!)
