  4. Why a forum for advice • Need to place access to justice higher up political and strategic agenda • A single point of contact • Illustrate the sector’s considerable contribution to the city

  6. Advice Leeds Partnership Creation of Advice Leeds Advice Plus Big Lottery Funding Advice Leeds’ Access Quality and Capacity Building Project 2009-2013

  7. Increasing capacity & quality Increasing our capacity to provide quality assured advice Train 150 new volunteers over 5 years. Recognised NVQ qualification Advise an additional 35,000 clients Support agencies to secure CLS quality mark

  8. Improving access to advice • Train 550 advocacy / support workers • Improving pathways to comprehensive quality assured advice services • Support worker helpline and referral system

  9. Advice Leeds values and drivers • Advice should be: • Available to the whole community and underpinned by a commitment to equality of opportunity • Planned in a coordinated manner to meet local needs, using collaboration and partnership working across the voluntary and statutory sectors

  10. Advice Leeds – the drivers • Advice services should be: • Used to support vulnerable, marginalized or disadvantaged people and communities • Provided at different levels, using a wide range of easily accessible delivery methods • Quality services that local people will have confidence in.

Advice Leeds – the future • Developing the partnership – with new members joining and increasing the potential of the partnership • Coordination of services will be a work in progress as we develop the partnership over the next few years. With the foundation set we will have the systems to expand and co ordinate services.

  12. Advice Leeds – the future • Joint bidding – many advice providers have a unique knowledge of their area of law or the community that they serve. Joint bidding enables more inclusive services to be provided. • Campaigning for change
