Relaxation techniques are the mainstay of CAM. Relaxation techniques include but are not limited to meditation, hypnotherapy, visual imagery, music therapy and deep breathing. Children also are excellent candidates using CAM especially hypnotherapies and visual imagery; children see their world thru vivid imagination and dreams.

Nursing and the Patient • Combination of traditional medicine and complementary therapies would be a better way to serve our patient population. • By focusing on general outcomes of reducing pain and anxiety nurses would not only be empowering themselves but would also be empowering our patients to participate in their own healing process.
