The Building on History project • Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council • Phase one (2009-2011): partnership between The Open University, King’s College London, Lambeth Palace Library and the Anglican Diocese of London. • Phase two: (2012-2013) partnership between OU, Royal Holloway and practitioners from Muslim, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist and Black majority church constituencies. • ?Phase three (2013 - ) developing application to Heritage Lottery Fund. • Objectives: a) to promote participation in ‘religious history’ b) to promote critical historical understanding within and between religious groups. • Visit www.open.ac.uk/buildingonhistory ; http://www.open.ac.uk/Arts/religion-in-london/ ; http://www.open.ac.uk/blogs/boh/

  3. Project themes Including: 1. Religious diversity before and after 1945 2. Commonalities of experience of religious groups (e.g. place-making; of prejudice). 3. Intersecting histories (e.g. spatial interconnections; co-operation between religions). 4. Religious ‘communities’ as heterogeneous
