The EST started its activities in 1988 with the degree in Food Engineering. OBJECTIVES: • - Prepare Skilled graduates to support • the food industry, able to act in different areas • such as: • Production • Food Services • Water Supply Quality Control • Waste Management • Quality Control and Quality Management • Development of New Products, Packaging and Processes • Research and Development • Distribution and Marketing • Industry Management • Consulting and Education • - Establish the connection between the academic, • scientific and industrial realities A five year higher diploma, after 12 undergraduate study years. The disciplines are grouped in 6 main topics: 100% Compulsory distributed as: Number of compulsory disciplines Basic Sciences 30 Percentage of compulsory hours 20 Engineering Research Sciences 10 0 Biological Sciences Ind. placement Econ. And Manag. Percentage of optional hours Number of optional disciplines Basic Sciences Lecture 40 30 40% Engineering Research 20 Practice Sciences 10 60% 0 Opportunities to go abroad: - 3 months in the 3rd year year (compulsory) - financed by different programmes: Socrates / Erasmus, Leonardo.
