  2. Servas Israel - History • 1966 : Servas Israel was established by Benjamin Yeremias, from Nahariya • 2000 : an executive committee was established to centralize and manage all volunteer activities • 2010 : nearly 300 hosts in Israel

Highlights of Hosting in Israel We wish to: • Introduce our guests to our colorful culture / customs / traditions / food • Create an experience which satisfies our guests’ goal to : • understand Israel’s melting pot • variedness of the Israeli society • And help our hosts meet and create meaningful communication with people from afar

  4. Israel areas Jerusalem • North - Galilee and Golan area • Center north – Hasharon area • Center – Tel-Aviv and Dan area • Center east – Jerusalem area • South – Negev • Palestinian Authority – listed in Jerusalem area until they establish their own Servas organization. Jaffa Negev Tel Aviv

Who are Servas Israel members • Members from cities, villages, moshav, kibbutz • Religious and non-religious • Jews, Arabs, Christians, Muslims, Druzes, Bedouins Tel Aviv Servas Israel is trying to be a melting pot and to facilitate the communication between various populations in Israel Galil Kibbutz Beeri Nahalal

  6. We believe that: • Servas at home = Education for tolerance and peace • Servas = way of life • Servas = know how to accept and coexist with the other and the different

  7. Social activities • Social area meeting at least once a year in each area, usually before the Jewish New Year and other holidays • Country assembly at least once a year including guided tours, lectures, … …every year in another area
