Presidential Task Force • Eight members, representing the areas of: • financial administration and institutions, • academic concerns, including laboratories, • plant and equipment, • networks, servers and personal computers, • all administrative systems • Has met at least monthly since June, 1998 • Web site: Andrews University Y2K Web Site

What have we done? Hired a Y2K Coordinator on contract 1.1 Familiarized with Y2K issues 1.2 Delivered Y2K awareness presentations 2.1 Researched Y2K tracking solutions 2.2 Developed a tracking package in-house 2.3 Documented COBOL programs still in use 3.1 Developed a project plan and schedule
Results of PC Testing • 800 PCs were tested last summer (75%) • Data for ~50% has been collected via web • Projection: 300+ PCs will fail in year 2000 • Capital replacement costs: • $1,000 per system • $150 to $300 per monitor • Labor & software costs: $90 per machine

Where are we now? • Our web-based tracking software has been deployed • Departmental Y2K Coordinators are collecting and submitting data • Y2K Task Force members are working on Y2K issues in their areas • Vendors & other institutions are being worked with • Plant is being inventoried and remediation plans made • Banner is compliant (since Thanksgiving) • COBOL programs are being converted • Further training is in progress • Bulk PC purchase plans are being finalized • Groups are working on contingency plans
What’s next? • Refine analysis of inventory once collected • Continue to encourage Departmental Coordinators • Determine impact and priorities • Plan and implement repairs/replacements • Plan and test contingency plans
