Science Fiction • Is a genre of fiction • Involves elements of science – the stories always involve both partially true and partially fictitious laws or theories of science • Is almost always set in the future
Science Fiction • Is never completely believable. (If the plot, characters, and setting were completely believable, the genre would be easily confused with fantasy.)
Science Fiction • The plots create different situations than those that would have been possible in the past, and those that would be possible in the present. Think “futuristic.”
Science Fiction Includes a human element and seeks to explain the effects that new developments may have on mankind in the future.
