Snow Leopards By Sunday Hull
Why are Snow Leopards Endangered? • Their pelts are wanted for coats. • Their habitat is being taken over by people. • Their bones, skin, and organs are used for Asian medicine • They are shot when they steal farm animals for food.
How Can We Help Them? • We can give them specially designated territory for Snow Leopards. • We can strictly enforce anti-poaching laws. • We can retaliate when farm animals are killed by putting up stronger fences rather than shooting snow leopards
Additional Info • Snow Leopards live in cold sections of India, Pakistan, Mongolia, China, Nepal and Russia. • They are mainly loners but they have families in the spring. • They chase anything from deer to mice. • Downhill, a snow leopard can leap up to 48 feet.
