  4. Repeat Patterns Printed repeat patterns are used in many commercial environments. We use them regularly but can you think of any examples?

Task one: Repeat pattern design • pick a simple shape such as a apiece of fruit or a flower and draw the same shape in each of the squares • Cut out the squares • Play with repeat patterns and take pictures of each of your designs for your sketchbook Look at grids, brickwork, rotation staggered patterns. What can you find?

  15. Just by drawing 9 of the same pictures you have created a repeat pattern. Now cut them out and try rotating, staggering or brickwork. If you have finished try working with 2 or 3 images

  21. Homework • Research images of nature for this project • Research artists, wallpapers and repeat pattern. Use wallpaper websites (Ilovewallpaper, Homebase, Graham&Brown), textile artists (from presentation, patternbank, and wrapping paper • NEXT WEEK YOU WILL CREATE YOUR FIRST DESIGN FOR AN ADVANCED REPEAT PATTERN
