Cataloguers’ experiences - general • Questionnaire compiled by BL and ICCU • User Interface - clear and easy to use • Search query construction - easy • Use of XML to customise the client useful • Access points - known item i.e. ISBNs • Hit rates and response times - good
Cataloguers’ experiences - copy cataloguing • Very easy to carry out • Subject information of great value • Minimal changes to records necessary - less then 10% • Procedures flexible and simple to carry out
Issues • Quality of the records main consideration • Downloading • MARC converters and XML • Subject information • multi-lingual access • Cataloguing consortia and catalogue update • XML helps give cataloguers flexible clients
