CLAREMORRIS AND WESTERN DISTRICT ENERGY CO-OPERATIVE • Founded in 2015 to develop the benefits of community owned renewable energy, supporting communities and addressing climate change in the West of Ireland. • With over 50 members, the Co-op are currently engaged on a voluntary basis to support communities in the transition to the low carbon economy. • Through the support of the local groups and the co-operation of local businesses, the energy co-operative has gained valuable experience in the development of a local energy deployment, while contributing to national policy.
Community Renewable Energy Supply (CRES) • Irelands first Community Owned Licenced Supply Company. • We sell and purchase electricity generated from renewable energy sources which includes both wind and hydro projects. • We are working with a number of communities throughout the island of Ireland who are actively engaged in creating sustainable energy futures for their local communities.
Community Support Asks • Claremorris Energy Co-Op has Projects ready to Build • We as a community are RESS 1 Ready • Claremorris Energy Co-Op are now capable to trade Renewable Power • CRESS is a community Owned Capability • Claremorris Energy Co-Op will reduce the carbon footprint of the Town by 20% by 2020 but • We need Government to support community owned, commercially viable projects which are compliant with the Public Spending Code
