History of Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation Founded by Michael Brosowski and colleagues on Feb 2003 BDCF’s goals: are to break the poverty cycle by offering help to those who need them the most: street kids, child victims of trafficking, and the rural poor. reaching out to kids in crisis throughout Vietnam. Giving children and youth a new chance in life: the chance to have a home, a good education, and a happy, stable life.
Achievements • Up till 2010: • Send 1,113 kids back to school and jobs training. • Built and repaired houses for 24 families. • Reunited 56 runaway children with their families. • Successfully rescued 72 trafficked children. • Rescued 9 girls from China who were kidnapped and sold to brothels
SAFE & SOUND Focus: Child Trafficking ( Rescue and prevention) Mission: rescue children from traffickers and return to their families; and prevent trafficking from taking place by spreading awareness among villages and communities. Regions: Hue & Saigon
Rescue team is formed with BDCF staff, Red Cross and volunteers. Come to factories where the kids are being held and demand their release.
Rescued children will stay at BDCF’s facility before returning home with their family
Educate & Prevent We build relationships with communities in Hue Support families with food (rice, noodles…) BDCF Staff will be with the families that have become target of traffickers Sending the children back to school. Help building houses and attain proper birth certificates
“Safe & Sound” project goals Expand to 3-5 more villages Rescue at least 60 more children Rebuild 7-10 more houses Create 1-2 children’s playgrounds Support up to 150 trafficked children to go to school
