  2. Based on what you know about Petruchio, select a chat-up line that he might use to woo Katherine • Did it hurt when you fell from heaven? • I may not be the best looking guy here, but I'm the only one talking to you. • Hi, the voices in my head told me to come talk to you. • You're so sweet, you're gonna put sugar out of business. • I've had quite a bit to drink ... and you're beginning to look pretty good.

  3. Language Technique Innuendo- an indirect statement or hint, usually referring to someone’s character or reputation. *Usually quite suggestive (naughty) and meant to be clever or funny.

  4. The Wooing Scene: Read 113-135 Select a quote that tells the audience that: • Katherine is witty (clever) • Katherine is angry • Katherine is ………………. (you choose an adjective) • Petruchio is a …………. (you choose a noun) • Find an example of innuendo from “The Wooing scene” and record it in your notebook. What does this show about the character? • Challenge – What techniques has Shakespeare used to entertain the audience? E.g. repetition
