Defeat in 1814 • Napoleon's army weakened from attacking Russia • He created a new army afterwards, but it was untrained. • European forces destroyed his new army at the German city of Leipzig. • In April 1814, the armies of Austria, Russia, and Prussia reached France’s capitol, where Napoleon surrendered because his generals didn’t want to keep on fighting.
