Glaze: Thin coating of minerals which produces a glassy transparent or colored coating NOTE: Glazeware must be fired AGAIN before colors turn and become glossy!
First Project: Elephants on Parade • Create an elephant using pinch pots and additive methods of clay building • All elephants will be standing on 4 legs • Our goal is to be realistic in FORM & imaginative in SURFACE • The building process will be similar for all of us, but details, surface decoration (carvings, 3D designs), and overall personality of your elephant are up to you. • Perhaps it symbolizes something personal about you?

What’s next? • Turn in your notes • TOMORROW: • Clean out your drawer/find a drawer! • Return ALL materials you’ve borrowed. You should have nothing in your boxes but your paint palette • Show me your empty drawer and you’ll get clay. • Keep it moist & workable or else you’ll have to start again.
