Preliminaries • In your journals, respond to the following prompt: “Many writers have compared life to a journey or trip. Briefly, describe the highlights of your freshman year of high school by comparing it to a journey. Your journey can begin on the first day of high school and should include some of the detours (obstacles) you have encountered along the way.”
Objectives: • The students will be able to choose words appropriately when writing to advance the theme of a work. • The students will be able to skim a text to quickly locate information.
