  1. What do you need to know about garage air conditioners?

  2. Your garage can be used for several purposes. You may utilize it to work on home improvement projects, park your vehicle, or store extra stuff. However, all this is fun until your garage becomes a sauna and limits your activities. To prevent this from occurring, you can install an air conditioning unit in the space. It can help control the humidity levels and create a place conducive to working. So, here are some garage air conditioning systems you can set up in your space. Have a look!

  3. Why does your garage require air conditioning? Reasons why your garage needs cooling during the summer months: Location: If your garage gets direct sunlight and turns hot during the day, it is best to ensure proper air conditioning in the room. Garage colours: Typically, garages have dark-coloured walls and doors that absorb a lot of heat. It makes it vital to cool the space. Lack of insulation: These spaces are usually uninsulated, allowing hot air to seep in from the outside easily. Lack of ventilation: Since adequate air circulation is not present in the garage, hot air accumulates and leads to high temperatures.

  4. Which air conditioners are suitable for cooling the garage? Mini-split AC: The mini-split air conditioners are popular for their high energy efficiency ratios. They have the highest SEER and EER ratings and are easy to install because they don’t have ductwork. In addition, since these air conditioners are mounted high on the wall, they save premium floor space. The AC has two units, an indoor and outdoor one, connected through a three-inch hole in the wall. The only setback with these air conditioners is their high cost. Window AC: The window air conditioners are versatile and efficient. They are affordable units and are easy to set up. Available in several sizes, these units can efficiently cool the garage of any size. However, since many garages have vertical windows, it leaves installing window AC out of the question. Moreover, these systems are loud, so if you are looking forward to creating your garage area as your peaceful nest, window AC may not be a good idea.

  5. Through-the-wall AC: If you want to set up a window AC but don’t have windows in the garage, you can go for a through-the-wall AC. It is similar to a window unit but has a different installation process. To set it up, you must place a frame in the wall opening. The unit is more efficient than the window systems and does not leak much air. But, the major drawback with this type of AC is that you must bore a hole in the wall to install it. Portable AC: Since these ACs can be moved from one space to another, they are ideal for being installed in your garage. The system can dehumidify the space and works well for small garages. Also, it is easy to set up.  Which AC systems are unsuitable for your garage? Installing a central air conditioner or swamp cooler in the garage is not the best decision. It is so because central ACs in the garage can cause depressurization, while swamp coolers can increase the humidity levels.
