Topics • This term we are learning about rocks, volcanoes and earthquakes through our topic, ‘Tremors’. • We are hoping to have a trip to Magna shortly after half term to take part in an Earthquakes and Volcanoes workshop.
Topics • Later this year we will be covering the topics of ‘Gods and Mortals’, ‘Heroes and Villains’ and ‘Predators’
Homework • Reading: Colour book band and scheme book. • Spelling rule to be sent home in log books. Homework • Topic Homework: The children will be provided with a list of possible homework projects linked to our topic. The projects will vary in type of task and difficulty so there should be something that appeals to everyone. Children should complete one or two of these projects over the course of a half term. At the end of each half term the children will be able to ‘showcase’ their project to the rest of the class.
Reading • This year we have a whole-school focus on improving the children’s fluency and stamina in reading. The children’s reading speed will be assessed each half term, with the aim being to see improvement since the previous assessment. • Children will read to an adult in school at least once a week, in addition to their daily comprehension lessons. • They should read to an adult at home at least three times a week for at least ten minutes.
