  2. Early Life Swami Chinmayananda was born on May 8,1916 in Ernakulam, India. His given name was Balakrishna Menon. When Swami Chinmayananda was young he loved to look at Shiva’s Idol. After Swami Chinmayananda graduated from Lucknow University he entered the field journalism. Swami Chinmayananda felt he could help and influence political, economic, and social reform movement through journalism.

  3. His Gurus In the summer of 1947 Swami Chinmayananda went to the ashram of Swami Sivananda. After Swami Chinmayananda went to Swami Sivananda’s ashram Swami Chinmayananda was amazed by the scriptures in the ashram. In 1949 Swami Chinmayananda went to Swami Tapovan Maharaj in Uttarkashi. In the ashram of Swami Tapovan Maharaj the day would start at 3 am and end 10-11 pm night.

  4. His Work Spent over 40 years helping others He was a freedom fighter for India Created Chinmaya Mission and Bala Vihar for all of us Opened many ashram’s Taught us many important things about our culture and our religion Wrote many commentaries for Hindu scriptures

  5. His Late life Swami Chinmayananda was selected as the President of Hindu Religion by the Hindu Host Committee in the year 1993. The honor was given to him at the Meeting of the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago. He was also honored for serving humanity selflessly throughout his life at "World Vision 2000," a conference of religious leaders. On August 3,1993 Swami Chinmayananda left the earth and went to become one with god.

  6. His Impact on us Without Swami Chinmayananda the world wouldn’t be the same. Thanks to him we have Chinmaya Mission, which has made a huge on me. I have learned about the Ramayana and The Saints of india and the West. This year I’m learning about the Vibhishana gita. Thanks to Swami Chinmayananda our Guru, we have a good and happy society to live in. Hari Om
