2. Building Blocks of International Friendships We invite our new Pen Pals from Pakistan to learn about our school life in the United States of America. It will be exciting for us to learn about school life in Pakistan so we can analyze how our lives are similar yet different!

3. William Henry Middle SchoolBy: Benji Can you name this place in Dover, Delaware U.S.A? This picture is the front of my school. The name of my school is William Henry Middle School. I am in the fifth grade. This is where students get dropped off by their parent or a school bus every morning for school. We go to school Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. How many days do you go to school?

4. Mrs.WilsonBy:Shannon My picture is about Mrs. Wilson, our principal. Mrs. Wilson is the person who is mostly in charge. She tells the teachers what the students will study and won’t study, Mrs..Wilson also aproves or doesn’t approve of suggestions by teachers, students,or people who work in the school. So Mrs.Wilson is mostly the one who gives authority and privileges. She is also very nice. Mrs.Wilson approves many fun projects.Who is the main boss of your school?

5. School NurseBy Amber The school nurse is a lady that takes care of you when you get hurt. If you get hurt badly she will call your parents to come pick you up. Do you have a school nurse?

6. Basketball By: Tyler This is a picture of me, Tyler Myers. I am wearing my favorite T-shirt with Allen Iverson on the front of it. Allen Iverson is a NBA basketball player. NBA stands for National Basketball Association. Iverson plays for the Philadelphia 76ers . He has been playing for 10 years . I got to watch him play in person. Do you have a favorite sport? Do you have a basketball league?

7. Computers By: Stephen Here is one of my friends Ryan, researching black history in the U.S.A. As you may or may not know,we use apple computers for writing and sending e-mails to pen pals in other countries. Do you have computers in your school and if so what kind?

8. Ms. Burnham By: Clayton This is my teacher, Ms. Burnham, typing on the computer. Ms. Burnham is typing an e-mail message to people in Pakistan. She teaches us English, spelling, and reading. Do you have any English, spelling, and reading teachers?

9. Computer LabBy:Stephanie This is Ms.Forest. She is the teacher for the computer lab in the morning. She teaches some of the students how to use computers the right way. For example, when I go to the computer lab, she teaches me how to not always look at the keyboard and sometimes look at the screen. Do you have a computer lab in your school?

10. Lunch LadiesBy:Stephanie Do youhave school lunch ladies? We do at my school. Well in this picture they are getting ready for the hungry students to come in and eat. All of the ladies cook the food and serve the food for us to eat. There are almost nine hundred students in my school. That is a large group to feed!

11. PlanetariumBy:James My best photograph is of the planetarium. The planetarium is a place where we go to learn about space. I found out information about the sun and why we always have sunlight so we will not freeze from lack of heat from the sun.

12. AuditoriumBy:James My other great photograph is from the auditorium at my school. It is where we have programs and meetings with all of the students and teachers. For example, we had a presentation on respect and a Fifth Grade Spelling Bee or Spelling Contest. We also have plays with people dressed in costumes as they act out a story. So can you believe our school Auditorium holds about 700 people?

13. Eating LunchBy:Shannon My second photograph I took was about students eating lunch. Our school has a lunch time and we can either buy or bring our lunch. Our lunch time is when we, the students at William Henry can talk freely. The students have at least three choices of lunch and snack. What kind of choices do you have at lunch time?

14. My Teacherby:Ryan This is a picture of my teacher, Ms. Burnham and another student named Ginika. Ms. Burnham is helping Ginika with a paper. Ms.Burnham helps the class by answering all of our questions . Ms. Burnham teaches Reading, English, and Social Studies. How many teachers do you have? What do they teach?

15. My SchoolBy: Christian This is a picture of the front of my school. The name is William Henry Middle School. The teachers park in the front of the school. To get to school children ride in a yellow school bus or get a ride in their parent’s car. How do your teachers get to school? How do children in Pakistan get to school?

17. StudyingBy: Ginika Ginika is studying math. We study fractions, division, addition, and place value in math. Right now we are studying geometry which is when you measure angles. In math, we use protractors. Protractors are fun tools to use in math. Protractors measure angles. Do you have protractors in your country? What type of math does your country teach?

I ask questions to help them see what will happen next. The children liked to guess the answer. I can’t wait till next time because the children were having so much fun. On the lap tops you can go on the internet, play learning games, and do research. These are some interesting things we can do on lap tops at my school. It is easy to change your work on the lap top. We can use spell check too.

The secretaries in my school help the principal get important phone calls and help to organize documents. Mrs Miller is on the walkie-talkie getting information for the principal.
