  1. As We Gather • As we gather may Your Spirit work within us, • As we gather may we glorify Your Name. • Knowing well that as our hearts • begin to worship, • We’ll be blessed because we came, • We’ll be blessed because we came.

Ephesians 4:11-16 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

  3. 14that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting. 15but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ- 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Three Key Ingredients for Building a Church: Ingredient #1 – Equipped Saints (Vs. 12a) Ingredient #2 – Working Saints (Vs. 12b) Ingredient #3 – Edifying Saints (Vs. 12c) Christ gives gifts/individuals The body being built up / edified. gifts/individuals produce equipped saints provide working saints provide working saints

  13. Three Goals of Edification: (Vs. 13) 1) Unified Beliefs (Especially about Jesus) 2) Complete Maturity 3) Full Christ-likeness Two Evidences of Edification: 1) Doctrinal Stability (Vs. 14) 2) Love (Vs. 15)

  14. Closing Questions: (Vs. 16) 1) Am I faithfully contributing my part to the building of the body? Remember, God’s plan is to use Equipped Saints(Vs. 12a) Working Saints(Vs. 12b)and Edifying Saints(Vs. 12c) for the building of His Church! 2) Am I faithfully contributing love to the Body? 3) Am I faithfully demonstrating gratefulness to the Head of the Body?

  15. Come, Thou Fount Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love.
