Estonia is one of the world's richest countries in forests: forests covered almost half of Estonian land or 2,2 million hectares. Approximately 40% of Estonian forests belong to the state.
If 40% of its territory is covered by forests, up to 30% of the land is covered with bogs.
The forest area is increasing from year to year. Only in the last 10 years it has increased by more than 300 hectares, as compared with 1958 - 1.7 times. Distribution of forests in the country more or less uniform
The most common tree species found in Estonia, pine, birch, aspen and spruce.
In Estonia, under the state protection of nature is taken 10 percent of the area (4548 km ²). There are four national parks - Vilsandi, Karula, Lahemaa, COOMe, four natural parks - Loodi, Naysaar, OtepääHaanja, 55 and 154 of the natural landscape of the reserve.
The state owns more than 38% of Estonian forests and thus manages 800,000 ha of forests. The state fells 8,000 ha of old forests annually, which represents one percent of all forests. These trees are later replaced in a process of reforestation.
The representative of the State Forest Management Centre explained that in 2010, over 2.5 million cubic metres of wood were sold, which amounted to almost 90 million euros of income for the Centre. He emphasised that only about 10% of wood is exported in the form of logs, while the rest is sold to wood processing companies based in Estonia. Since 1992, most foreign direct investments in wood processing companies have originated from Finland and Sweden.
These are two most common and important problems in Estonia.
These people are not all the same on the fate of the forest!

Estonians consider a tree suitable natural material and willing to use it, but at the same time oppose logging in Estonia.
Studying the forest industry in Estonia, it became clear that the residents of Estonia set more positive regarding at using of wood.
National Audit Office of Estonia conducted an analysis of deforestation in the country. It was found that in the case of the State to continue such mass deforestation, good forest soon disappear.
If we increase the number of felled timber, then deteriorate the ecological situation in the country. National Audit Office insists on reducing the area of annual production by 30% of pine, spruce and birch and aspen 40-50% to 70% of planned for this year's deforestation.
If deforestation continues in Estonia so active, that is suitable for cutting wood one day just be over. It is reported by an audit of state control. Another audit of the State Control Committee said that it would lead to the beginning of the destruction of the ecological system in Estonia.
Cutting down old forests will reduce the value of natural forests as a whole, as in the old forests are home to other plants and various animals.

Conclusion. If I were the leader of my country I would stop logging companies from destroying the forest. It is terrible the way that animals and rare plants die when the trees disappear. Do not these companies know that they are not just destroying the trees and the wildlife? They could destroy us all! Trees produce oxygen, which is one of our most basic needs. One answer to the problem is to make the logging companies plant new trees. If they did that, it could save the forest and give all of us cleaner air to breathe.
