OVERVIEW OF CURRICULUM Units are organised and taught according to these mega themes: • Term 1 – Story Land (Units 2, 3, 4 & 6) • Term 2 - Contact Time (Units 5,1 & 7) • Term 3 - Twilight Zone (Units 11,12, 8 & 9) * Unit 10 will be taught first before teachers embark on the theme • Term 4 – Unit 13 & Unit 14 are taught separately Pupils will be asked to work on projects based on the different themes. The emphasis is on acquiring related skills rather than the final product.
Speech and Drama Build pupils’ confidence by developing pupils’ public speaking skills Promote pupils’ creativity through exploration and self-reflection Adapted Literature (based on the series ‘Stories Around the World’) Encourage pupils to form good reading habits Help pupils to acquire critical and analytical skills Inculcate character values through the themes explored in the stories Speech and Drama cum Adapted Literature Programme (1 hour conducted on alternate weeks during curriculum time)
Assessment Exam Components that are new to pupils: • Unseen Dictation (5 sentences) • Synthesis (2 items) • Grammar Cloze with no helping words (5 blanks)
