What is your skin phototype? Your skin phototype measures your risk of skin damage from exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet light. This is based on your complexion and your skin’s normal reaction to the skin. Complete the survey to determine your skin phototype
Your Skin Phototype I: Pale skin, red or blond hair, blue or green eyes; may have a lot of freckles. You always burn and never get a tan. II: Pale skin, blond hair, light or dark eyes. You usually burn, but sometimes get a tan. III: Light skin, usually darker hair and brown eyes. You sometimes burn but usually get a tan IV: Light brown skin, brown or black hair, brown eyes. You rarely get sunburned and tan easily. V: Medium brown to dark skin, brown or black hair and brown eyes. You rarely or never get sunburned.
How does my phototype determine my burn time in the sun? Your skin type, together with the amount of UV you are exposed to, determine your risk of skin damage or skin cancer from the sun. Find your local UV Index by accessing the US Environmental Protection Agency website at www.epa.gov/sunwise/uvindex.html

Your presentation must include… • Question/Problem • Background Information/Research about the question • Hypothesis • Experiment (Include your control and variables) • Results (Chart, Tables, Pictures) • Conclusion (Include sources of error) Each section is worth 5 points!
