Criterion A: One world Students should be able to: • • explain the ways in which science is applied and used to address a specific problem or issue • • discuss the effectiveness of science and its application in solving the problem or issue • • discuss and evaluate the moral, ethical, social, economic, political, cultural and environmental • State the use of science and its application in solving specific problems or issues.
Areas of Interaction ( AoI ) • ATL : Approaches to learning is concerned with 'learning how to learn'. The focus is on attitudes, strategies and skills that will result in critical, coherent and independent thought and a capacity for problem-solving and decision-making. • CS :Community service extends beyond the classroom. The emphasis is on developing community awareness and concern, a sense of responsibility, and the skills needed to make an effective contribution to society.
HSE : Health and social education aims to educate the whole student. It aims to prepare students for a physically and mentally healthy life, aware of potential hazards and able to make informed choices. • ENV: Environment aims to develop the students' awareness of their interdependence with their surroundings. It encourages students to accept responsibility for maintaining their environment at home, at school, as well as reflecting on global issues that require decision-making. • HI : Human Ingenuity is concerned with the products of the creative genius of people and their impact on society and on the human mind. Students learn to appreciate the human capacity to influence, transform, enjoy and improve the quality of life.
